Award-winning actor and Sudanese-American rapper Ramey Dawoud features fellow heavy-hitting, lyrically-gifted G-Salih and the North’s very own Mouraine on “Cousin” produced by AK On De Beat. They tackle the disconnect between family members living at home in Sudan who view the west as a utopian paradise and the vastly different harsh struggles and realities that diasporans experience. The trio’s unique rapping and lyrical prowess are on full display as they weave stories of the many struggles of living abroad that continental relatives don’t see or experience, while juxtaposing their connection as immigrants with similar backgrounds.
